Bring on the MOBO's

PUPILS across Liverpool will have the chance to go to an iconic worldwide awards ceremony, being held in the Liverpool Echo Arena.

Liverpool City Council is to offer two tickets to every secondary school in the city for the Mobo Awards, being held later this month on 20th October.

Out of the 30 schools selected, they each nominates two members to attend the star-studded event, opening with British band ‘JLS’.

Councillor Wendy Simon, Cabinet member for Culture, said “The MOBO awards are a huge coup for Liverpool.”

“Its important we make sure as many local people get to experience the benefits of the city staging such an amazing event.”

‘’I wanted our schoolchildren to be part of the MOBO’s and this ticket competition is one way of ensuring those who really want to be there have that chance.

“Hopefully it will be an inspiring night, and maybe for or two a life changing one, which confirms to them that music is at the heart of what they want to achieve in life and who they want to be.’’

Each school is to show in 30 words why they feel the two students, who must be aged between 14-18, should represent Liverpool at the major music ceremony by Monday 11th October.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the MOBO Awards and it is gearing up to be a fantastic evening filled with an eclectic mix of UK and international stars; including Tinie Tempah, N-Dubz, Professor Green, Plan B and Dizzee Rascal.

Launched in 1996 the MOBO Awards were the first awards show in Europe to celebrate urban music.
